GUS STERN, MD

A native of Maryland, Dr. Stern completed his undergraduate work at John Hopkins University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Stern completed his Ophthalmology Residency and Fellowship Training at the prestigious Tulane University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident and received the Clinical Research Award in 2007. Following his residency, Dr. Stern completed an anterior segment fellowship in cornea and glaucoma at Tulane. Following fellowship, Dr Stern passed his Ophthalmology boards. He is a "board certified" Ophthalmologist.

Dr. Stern performs a large number of differenct surgical procedures and he particularly enjoys LASIK. He specializes in performing Blade Free LASIK procedure utilizing the most advanced laser technology available today, IntraLase with the ALLEGRETTO WAVE LASER.

"It's a great feeling when the patients wake up the next morning and are truely amazed with their vision. That's one of the best parts of being an Ophthalmologist!" says Dr. Stern.

Dr. Stern is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He lives in the Bellaire area with his wife who is a pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Kirra Brandon, and his young daughters, Maebelle and Adelaide. He is a co-founder of ophthoquestions.com, which is a educational website for Ophthalmologists preparing for their board examinations.
