Gus Stern, MD

In keeping with our ongoing commitment to providing an expert surgical team in the field of ophthalmology, Mann Eye Institute and Laser Center is proud to welcome Augustus “Gus” Stern, M.D., to our team of dedicated ophthalmic specialists. Dr. Gus Stern specializes in the treatment of Glaucoma and Corneal disease and performs advanced Cataract, Glaucoma, Oculoplastic and Refractive surgery procedures.

A native of Maryland, Dr. Stern completed his undergraduate work at John Hopkins University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating with honors. Dr. Stern completed his Ophthalmology Residency and Fellowship Training at the prestigious Tulane University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident and received the Clinical Research Award in 2007. Following his residency, Dr. Stern completed an anterior segment fellowship in cornea and glaucoma at Tulane.

Dr. Stern is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He lives in the Bellaire area with his wife who is a pediatric dermatologist, Dr. Kirra Brandon, and his young daughter, Maebelle.
