Lens Replacement

Mann Eye Institute offers several lens replacement options. For people who don’t care for bifocals or trifocals, Crystalens™ is a great option. It allows the eye to focus on objects near, far or in between, in a natural way. Crystalens uses the eye’s own muscle to focus, mimicking the eye’s natural ability.

For people experiencing a natural decline in their vision, Conductive Keratoplasty (CK) could be the answer. CK reduces the need for reading glasses in people over 40 by using a radio frequency in place of surgical cutting. This FDA-approved procedure is quick, safe and minimally invasive.

Cataracts — a clouding of the lens that causes blurred vision — are often a normal part of aging. Mann Eye Institute removes cataracts in a 10-15 minute procedure that requires no stitches and is pain free. Most patients experience a rapid return to good vision, with many seeing relatively well without glasses/contacts the day after surgery.

One option for people with cataracts is the ReSTOR IOL (intraocular lens). The ReSTOR lens is a permanent, implantable lens that provides for the full range of vision at all distances. No stitches are necessary, allowing for a virtually pain-free procedure and rapid recovery.

If you’re severely nearsighted, Verisyse IOLs (intraocular lens) could get you out of those thick glasses or contacts. Verisyse IOLs are Phakic, meaning your natural lens is left in place. Instead, it simply helps your eye focus while your natural lens helps your eye and your brain make the transition between near and distance vision.
