REBECCA HUTSON, OD

Dr. Rebecca Hutson, a certified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, joined Mann Eye Institute and Laser Eye Center upon receiving her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Houston, College of Optometry in Houston, Texas in 2006. Dr. Hutson specializes in pre- and post-operative care for laser vision correction and cataract surgery, as well as, primary eye care for children, adult and geriatric patients.

Dr. Hutson became interested in eye care while attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she was on the Academic Dean’s List for eight semesters and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Microbiology in 2002. While studying for her Doctorate of Optometry, she was recognized for her academic excellence. She received the school’s Clinical Letter of Excellence twice, was honored on the Academic Dean’s List for six semesters and was awarded the prestigious Excellence in Optics Scholarship.

During her training, Dr. Hutson completed two externship programs including one program at Mann Eye Institute in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease including the pre- and post-operative management of surgical patients. During her second externship, she provided specialized therapy to patients with visual disorders. As a teaching assistant at the University of Houston, College of Optometry, Dr. Hutson trained new students in the basics of refractive examination and medical laboratory procedures commonly utilized in ocular disease diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Hutson is a member of the American Optometric Association, The Texas Optometric Association and the Optometry Association of Louisiana.
