Karlie N. Bonem, O.D. is a Therapeutic Optometrist specializing in primary care, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. She is proficient in utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to assess candidacy for refractive and cataract procedures. Dr. Bonem also administers pre-operative and post- operative care for cataract and laser vision correction patients.
Dr. Bonem received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX, graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She attended the University of Houston, College of Optometry in Houston, TX and recently received her Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Bonem completed externships as a student clinician at Mann Eye Institute with Dr. Bruce Krawiecki in Ophthalmology and Optometry, a Primary Care Disease externship at Good Neighbor Community Clinic and a Specialty Contact Lens externship with Dr. Randy Charrier, Family Vision Solutions.
While in school, Dr. Bonem was President of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists and a teaching assistant in the Ophthalmic Optics Lab. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. In her leisure time, Dr. Bonem enjoys running marathons, scuba diving and snorkeling.
