Karlie N. Bonem, O.D. is a Therapeutic Optometrist specializing in primary care, and the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. She is proficient in utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to assess candidacy for refractive and cataract procedures. Dr. Bonem takes a special interest in managing glaucoma and is adept in fitting specialty contact lenses for irregular corneas.
Dr. Bonem received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Baylor University in Waco, TX, graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She attended the University of Houston, College of Optometry in Houston, TX for her Doctor of Optometry. Dr. Bonem completed her clinical externships focusing on pathology, specialty contact lenses, ocular surface disease, and refractive and cataract surgery management.
While obtaining her doctorate degree, Dr. Bonem held the role of president of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, conducted research on the ocular effects of Multiple Sclerosis, and was a teaching assistant in Ophthalmic Optics. She is currently a board member of the Harris County Optometric Society and is active in the optometry community. In her leisure time, Dr. Bonem enjoys running, yoga, and spending time with her husband and two rescue dogs.
