Considering LASIK in Austin? Come discover the Mann Eye Institute difference at our North and South Austin locations, Houston, and the surrounding Texas areas.
The WaveLight system is made up of multiple devices that utilize WaveLight technology. They lead the market in efficiency, accuracy and optimized outcomes.
The FS200 Femtosecond Laser, a key player in the WaveLight System, is used in step one of the LASIK procedure at Mann Eye Institute. This advanced laser creates the corneal flap with enhanced speed and accuracy for precise, reproducible results.
Treatment time with the FS200 is greatly reduced when compared to other femtosecond lasers, with an average treatment time lasting only seconds!
Why is speed important? The faster the flap is created, the less potential exists for dehydration of the cornea, which in turn reduces the risk of swelling and inflammation. It can also help speed up the healing process and lead to quicker recovery times.
And best of all? In addition, the FS200 uses something called flap shift pupil detection (this basically means we can precisely match your flap shape to your treatment area), giving you a very precise, customized experience.

The EX500 Excimer Laser is an exciting new and advanced technology that offers the next level of precision, accuracy and speed. Paired with the FS200 Femtosecond Laser, as part of our advanced WaveLight Refractive Surgery Suite, treatment with the EX500 represents a quantum leap in LASIK Surgery.
Patients (who had their LASIK performed with the EX500) have reported excellent results, faster recovery times and sharper vision during the day and night – as well as a reduced potential for problems with glare or halos in low-light conditions.
Let’s talk about just how awesome this laser is.
One of the many advantages of the new EX500 is its speed. The average time it takes to reshape the corneal surface is approximately 1.4 seconds per diopter, a remarkably quick process that benefits patients in many ways. The EX500 is among the fastest excimer lasers approved for use in the U.S. today.
Today’s excimer lasers incorporate high-tech infrared eye trackers to help eliminate any concern about involuntary movements of the eye or any issues with patient “fixation” fatigue. The ability to monitor eye movements is critical to correct placement of the laser pulse. Innovative engineering on the EX500 takes sensitivity to eye movements to the next level.
The EX500 multi-dimensional eye tracker is synchronized at 500 Hz, 10 times faster than the human eye. The tracker continually checks the position of the eye and automatically re-adjusts the timing of the laser as needed to ensure perfect placement of each laser pulse.
For patients who were previously not a candidate for LASIK, the new EX500 offers yet another benefit. It has the widest treatment range possible for patients with the most common vision errors – hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism.
The EX500’s wide treatment range is an advancement that brings Mann Eye Institute even closer to our goal of offering permanent vision correction to everyone who desires it. In keeping with our ongoing commitment to remain at the forefront of vision correction, the Mann Eye Institute offers one of the newest and most technologically advanced laser systems, the ALLEGRETTO WAVE® Eye-Q Excimer Laser.
We are proud to be the first vision correction center in Houston and Austin to treat our patients with one of the latest advancements in blade-free laser vision correction and state-of-the-art care — All-Laser LASIK and the ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q laser system. This advancement in vision correction technology offers patients increased speed, accuracy and safety.
The ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q Excimer Laser is one of the newest generations of excimer laser technology and is the first system to receive concurrent approval for the treatment of both nearsightedness and farsightedness. The treatment profile for this laser was developed after intense study of individuals who have what is called “super vision” or vision that is better than 20/20.
The laser reshapes your cornea to mimic the structure of eyes with “super vision” with unparalleled customization. Due to the laser’s unique wavefront-optimized ablation algorithm, the system delivers superior clinical results and a maximum level of safety for our patients.
The ALLEGRETTO WAVE Eye-Q Excimer Laser is a “WaveFront-optimized” system. WaveFront technology not only corrects a patient’s prescription, but also aims to improve the “quality” of vision during daylight and prevent problems with night vision. The system also has a unique eye-tracking system which automatically adjusts to changes in pupil size during treatment.

In keeping with our commitment to remain on the leading edge of everything new and amazing in vision correction, Mann Eye Institute, located in Houston and Austin, is excited to introduce the most advanced laser platform currently available in the United States.
Drum roll please: Contoura.
The full name of this exciting new technology is a mouthful, so buckle your seatbelt.
Contoura Vision Topography-Guided Laser Vision Correction is a highly advanced laser platform. It’s designed to optimize the corneal surface of the eye, which could ultimately lead to even greater results from your LASIK.
Contoura takes LASIK in Houston and Austin further than it has ever gone before; the technology does not just treat your eyeglass prescription. It does more. Contoura makes use of advanced diagnostic mapping to find and record imperfections in both the optics of the cornea and the cornea’s curvature. Basically, it’s an overachiever.
When the Contoura measurements (22,000 of them, to be exact!) are combined with your regular eyeglass prescription, this is where the magic happens. This improves chances that a better-focusing surface for the eyes can be created.
Based on the results of extensive clinical studies, Contoura has helped approximately 90% of people, just like you, enhance their vision to the point of seeing more clearly without glasses than they did wearing glasses. In fact, Contoura produced the best results ever seen in an FDA LASIK clinical trial. That’s impressive!
Contoura is a huge step forward in treating common vision challenges and Mann Eye Institute is so happy to be able to offer it to you! Contoura Vision is helping many individuals see more clearly than they ever thought possible.
Ready to schedule your LASIK consultation? Ready to See Life Better? Your LASIK surgeon will help you determine if Contoura Vision is the right choice for you.
If there’s one thing Mann Eye Institute patients can feel confident about, it’s that Mann Eye Institute cares. Not just about the big things but the little things, too. Iris Registration is just another example of our commitment to bringing the best of the best to our valued patients.
The Iris Registration System (IR), is the latest step in vision correction technology. The system ensures the best alignment of the laser treatment pattern possible.
The eye can rotate when a person changes from a seated to the lying position. This is often a fairly small amount of true rotation but it can be clinically significant when applying a laser vision correction application.
With other excimer lasers, registration marks are applied to the eye by the surgeon before surgery and then compensated for under the laser manually. If this is not performed perfectly, it could result in misalignment of the laser treatment pattern.
The Iris Registration system recognizes and corrects any misalignment in the laser treatment pattern. The better the alignment of the laser treatment, the higher quality of the surgical result.
See if you are a candidate for Advanced LASIK with the Iris Registration System by scheduling a free consultation here at Mann Eye Institute.
Results may vary. Consult with your physician. As with any surgical procedure, potential, though rare, risks may exist.
