What Is

LASIK Eye Surgery?

LASIK eye surgery is a vision correction procedure performed with lasers that aims to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

LASIK can be successful at helping patients reduce or eliminate the need for glasses and contact lenses. LASIK surgery is the most popular refractive surgery in the United States today. It is safe and typically only takes a few minutes per eye. LASIK, or “laser-assisted in situ Keratomileusis”, can correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

During the LASIK procedure, one of our Houston LASIK surgeons will use a femtosecond laser to create a thin, circular flap on the surface of the cornea. This flap is then folded back to expose the inner layers of the cornea. Then, the cornea is reshaped using an excimer laser, which removes small amounts of corneal tissue. Lastly, the flap in the cornea is then replaced and acts as self-healing healing bandage, requiring no stitches.

Step 1a: A tiny opening is created on the surface of the eye using a femtosecond laser.

Step 1a: A tiny opening is created on the surface of the eye using a femtosecond laser. This opening is called the corneal flap (think of it as a little door).

Step 1b: The “flap” is gently pulled back to allow access to the cornea, the area that needs to be reshaped.

Step 1b: The “flap” is gently pulled back to allow access to the cornea, the area that needs to be reshaped.

Step 2a: A second laser – the excimer laser – is used to gently change the shape of the cornea according to the customized maps we made at your consultation (this is what allows you to then see clearly).

Step 2b: The “flap” is gently put back into place. And without any bandages or stitches, it naturally self-seals. Most people are back to work the next day.

Laser Vision Correction is the most popular elective procedure in the world.

What is the Cost of LASIK?

LASIK eye surgery in Houston typically ranges from $1,800 to $4,000 per eye, and understanding what drives that investment helps you make the right choice for your vision.

Doctor With Patient

Experience You Can Trust

Two factors matter most when it comes to LASIK pricing: the surgeon’s expertise and the laser technology used. Our surgeons at Mann Eye Institute have performed thousands of successful LASIK procedures. Every LASIK surgery is performed by fellowship-trained refractive surgeons who are committed to achieving the best possible outcome for your unique eyes. When it comes to laser vision correction, experience isn’t just a credential, it’s the difference between good results and exceptional ones.

Financing and Payment Options

Because LASIK is an elective vision correction procedure, most insurance plans don’t cover it. However, we offer flexible solutions to make LASIK affordable:

  • Flexible payment plans designed around your budget
  • Bundled LASIK pricing that includes all pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Three different financing options through trusted partners

Our LASIK coordinators will work with you to find a payment plan that makes sense for your situation, so cost doesn’t stand between you and clear vision.

Transparent Pricing With No Surprises

When researching vision correction providers in Houston, be cautious of advertisements promoting unusually low “per-eye” LASIK costs. These bargain offers often come with hidden fees, strict limitations, or use outdated laser technology that may not deliver the results you expect.

We believe in transparent, ethical LASIK pricing. You’ll receive detailed cost information upfront that accounts for your individual prescription, corneal thickness, and treatment complexity—so you know exactly what your LASIK procedure will cost with no surprise fees later.

Our Technology and Why It Matters

You’ve probably heard that 20/20 is perfect vision. But what if you could see 67% sharper than that?

With Next Generation LASIK, most patients don’t just reach 20/20—they surpass it:

  • 100% of patients achieved 20/20 or better — Everyone saw at least what’s considered “perfect”
  • Over half experienced 20/12 vision — That means seeing details from 20 feet away that most people need to be 12 feet away to see
  • 99.1% would recommend it to friends and family — Nearly everyone who’s experienced it wants their loved ones to have the same results
  • 96.3% are completely satisfied — No regrets, just clearer, better vision

Why This Advancement Changes Everything

Think about how your smartphone changed from just making calls to being your camera, navigator, and lifeline. That’s the leap we’re talking about with this advanced LASIK technology.

We’re the first practice in Texas to offer this breakthrough approach to laser vision correction, because we believe you deserve outcomes that older technology simply couldn’t deliver.

What Makes Our Vision Correction Results Possible?

Here’s what this means for you in plain terms:

More Precise Measurements — We capture a complete understanding of your unique eyes in ways that used to be impossible. Think of it like having a high-definition map instead of a hand-drawn sketch.

Truly Customized to YOUR Eyes — Your eyes are as unique as your fingerprint. This technology maps exactly how light travels through your specific eye structure, then creates a correction plan designed exclusively for you, not based on averages or approximations.

Results That Used to Be Out of Reach — The level of vision clarity that patients are experiencing was simply unattainable with older LASIK technology. We’re not just correcting your vision to “normal”, we’re giving you vision that’s extraordinary.

Your Vision Deserves the Best

LASIK is one of the safest elective procedures available, and now it delivers results that redefine what’s possible. You shouldn’t settle for outdated technology when you can have the sharpest, clearest vision available today at Mann Eye Institute.
