Light That Helps You See Better

If you’ve been told you have dry macular degeneration, you might feel like your options are limited.

But good news: Mann Eye Institute now offers a new way to help protect your vision using light therapy.  It’s called the LumiThera Light Delivery System, and it’s non-invasive—that means no needles and no surgery.

How Does It Work?

Let’s keep it simple: The LumiThera system shines a special light into your eyes, which helps rejuvenate sick or damaged cells in the back of your eye.

No burning. No scars. Just gentle light.

Is This FDA approved?

Yes, the Valeda® Light Delivery System is FDA-approved for the treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and is being safely used by patients around the world.

Mann Eye Institute is proud to be the first practice in Houston, Texas to offer this advanced technology.

What Happens During a Treatment?

You’ll sit comfortably in a chair while a small device shines light into your eyes for just a few minutes. Treatment typically takes less than five minutes per eye, and you’ll hardly feel anything.

What Can LumiThera Help With?

It is used for dry AMD (Age-Related Macular Degeneration), a condition that affects your central vision—which is responsible for reading, recognizing faces, and seeing fine details.

Talk to your doctor to see if it’s a good fit for you.

When Will I See Results?

Your retina specialist will monitor the effects on your macular degeneration.  Some people notice vision improvement after just a few sessions and for others it can take longer.

What we do know: The effects can be cumuluative.  The more sessions, the better the results.

What Patients Are Saying

“I can finally read my morning paper again without squinting.”

“I was skeptical, but after a few sessions, my eyes felt more alive.”

“I didn’t expect much, but wow, this light therapy made a difference.”

Real stories. Real hope.

Is it covered by insurance?

Since it is so new to the United States, the Valeda® Light Delivery System is currently only approved for traditional Medicare patients.  Other insurances will likely start covering it in the future.  We will check your benefits to be sure.

At Mann Eye Institute, we offer affordable financing options, including plans with deferred interest to help make treatment more accessible.

Can I keep using my regular treatments?

Yes! LumiThera works in conjunction with your current treatment plan.
