These days, it’s not unusual to see or hear of LASIK advertised at $299, $250 or even $220 an eye! $220 AN EYE!?! Wow!
Okay, well, settle down and let’s just talk about it. While it’s very tempting to act on such a great “bargain”, it’s important to do your research and read the fine print (with your glasses on, of course). After all, this is your one and only set of eyes and you want them to serve you well for a lifetime.
Not Feeling Fine About the Fine Print
If we’re honest, most of us are not “fine print” kind of people. First of all, fine print is tiny, it’s long-winded and it’s usually written in a way that only a judge, a seasoned attorney or maybe someone who’s watched literally every season of Law and Order could understand it.

People with a prescription that mild may not even struggle with their vision or even wear glasses on a full-time basis, making them very unlikely to be researching LASIK in the first place.
So unless you have very mild nearsightedness with no farsightedness and very little astigmatism, the cost of your LASIK procedure will be considerably higher than the “hook” price – about six times.
And don’t even get us started about the length of the fine print on the “Lifetime Guarantee”. The truth is, LASIK is a surgical procedure and no surgical procedure can be guaranteed; let alone for a lifetime! The problems associated with a lifetime guarantee are numerous but the main concerns are:

There are numerous restrictions and exclusions to the lifetime guarantee that are not disclosed to the patient.
High prescriptions are normally excluded from the lifetime guarantee.
